Milligan College forward Roberto Fernandez Garrido has been voted the Appalachian Athletic Conference men’s soccer player of the year, announced the league office Friday morning. Garrido led the Buffs, the AAC and the NAIA in scoring this season with 25 goals in 17 matches.

Andre Levarity gave the Milligan College men’s soccer team a lead in the first half of an Appalachian Athletic Conference quarterfinal match, but in the end, the Buffaloes fell to second-seeded Bryan College, 2-1, Saturday on the road.

Roberto Fernandez Garrido scored twice to bookend a match-winning goal from Harry Griffin, and the Milligan College men’s soccer team stunned No. 19 Tennessee Wesleyan University, 3-1, Saturday night on Anglin Field.

After defeating last year’s league champion on the road earlier this season, the Milligan College men’s soccer team was unable to defeat last year’s tournament champion on the road Saturday, falling to Reinhardt University 3-1.

Soccer season is just around the corner, and the Buffaloes of the Milligan College men’s team will look to continue their strong offseason and preseason as they begin the 2019 campaign Friday night at home.
