WALESKA, Ga. (Sept. 21, 2019) – After defeating last year's league champion on the road earlier this season, the Milligan College men's soccer team was unable to defeat last year's tournament champion on the road Saturday, falling to Reinhardt University 3-1.
Roberto Fernandez Garrido cut Reinhardt's lead in half late in the match, but Reinhardt, which took a 2-0 lead in the first half, added some cushion minutes later to quench any comeback chance for the Buffaloes. The goal was Garrido's Appalachian Athletic Conference leading 11th of the season and marked the fifth match in which the senior from Valencia, Spain, found the back of the net.
Andre Levarity had the assist, his first of the season.
Milligan was outshot 15-9 in the contest, including 10-5 on shots on goal. Garrido accounted for three of Milligan's shots. Goalkeeper Jan Kuepper made a season high seven saves.
Up next, Milligan comes home to face Truett McConnell University Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 5 p.m. on Anglin Field. It will be the first of five remaining home games this season for the Buffs.
