DAYTON, Tenn. (Nov. 2, 2019) – Andre Levarity gave the Milligan College men's soccer team a lead in the first half of an Appalachian Athletic Conference quarterfinal match, but in the end, the Buffaloes fell to second-seeded Bryan College, 2-1, Saturday on the road.
The loss marked the sixth single-goal decision of the season for Milligan, among which the Buffaloes posted a record of 0-6. It also was the fourth time this season Milligan lost after the opposing team scored a go-ahead goal in the final five minutes of regulation or in overtime.
This time, Bryan scored via a penalty kick with 4:21 left, completing a comeback in which Bryan scored twice in the second half.
Levarity's goal was his first of the season and came in the 23rd minute to give Milligan a 1-0 lead. Milligan held that lead through the break and looked poised for its second AAC tournament upset in the last three years. However, Bryan equalized early in the second half on a goal by Jamie Clark in the 48th minute, then took the lead in the 86th minute after a Milligan foul put Brad Spooner on the penalty spot.
Milligan ended the match outshooting Bryan 12-8, but the Lions had the advantage on shots on goal at 6-5. Levarity accounted for two of Milligan's shots on goal, while Luke Bennett, Roberto Fernandez Garrido and Inaki Moreno had the others. Moreno was credited the assist on Levarity's first-half goal.
With the loss, Milligan's season ended with a record of 6-11 (5-6 AAC).
