BRASELTON, Ga. (April 26, 2021) – Alayna Perryman shot a 77, and the No. 11 Milligan University women's golf team leads the Appalachian Athletic Conference Spring Championship/NAIA Direct Qualifier Monday after day one of the two-day tournament.
Perryman is one stroke off the individual lead while the Buffs (322) hold a nine-stroke advantage over the rest of the eight-team field. Meryl Castle and Emma Brown are tied for eighth, and Jenny Simonsen and Michaela Lindahl are both in the top 25.
Tennessee Wesleyan (331) and Truett McConnell (331) are tied for second place and both represent Milligan's closest competition toward the AAC regular season, which combines scoring from the fall and spring championships. Milligan held a 16-stroke advantage over Tennessee Wesleyan and a 19-stroke advantage over Truett after winning the fall championship last October.
Teams will conclude play Tuesday with the final round. A victory at the direct qualifier would automatically qualifier Milligan for the NAIA Women's Golf National Championship, set for Tuesday-Friday, May 25-28, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
