Perryman leading No. 11 Buffs through first round
The No. 11 Milligan University women’s golf team owns six of the top seven spots through the first round of the Mountain Empire Intercollegiate, held Monday at Elizabethton Golf Club.
ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (April 12, 2021) – The No. 11 Milligan University women's golf team owns six of the top seven spots through the first round of the Mountain Empire Intercollegiate, held Monday at Elizabethton Golf Club.
Alayna Perryman's 79 leads the way for the Buffs, only two strokes off the individual lead and one of only two rounds in the 70's on day one. Meryl Castle, Madison Blanton, Michaela Lindahl, Jenny Simonsen and Hannah Goodwin make up the next five spots on the leaderboard.
As a team, Milligan shot 334 on the first day, with the "B" team currently in the runner-up spot with a 345. Pikeville holds third at 350, with Boo Newsome's 77 the current top individual score.
Teams will conclude the event Tuesday with the second/final round. After that, the Buffs compete at the AAC NAIA Direct Qualifier, scheduled for Monday-Tuesday, April 26-27, in Braselton, Georgia.
