No. 9 Buffs finish seventh in deep field of top programs
Top-25 finishes from Alayna Perryman and Jenny Simonsen led the No. 9 Milligan University women’s golf team to seventh at the Oldfield Intercollegiate on Sunday. The field featured some of the nation’s best women’s golf programs, including six teams inside or near the top 25, most notably No. 2 Dalton State and No. 7 SCAD Savannah.
OKATIE, S.C. (March 28, 2021) – Top-25 finishes from Alayna Perryman and Jenny Simonsen led the No. 9 Milligan University women's golf team to seventh at the Oldfield Intercollegiate on Sunday. The field featured some of the nation's best women's golf programs, including six teams inside or near the top 25, most notably No. 2 Dalton State and No. 7 SCAD Savannah.
Perryman shot 81-80 while Simonsen shot 84-80, both landing a spot in the top 25 at 18th and 22nd. Meryl Castle and Emma Brown followed one spot apart in 33rd and 34th, and Gabby Hammond finished 37th.
Milligan (333-330) improved from day one to day two but ended up dropping one spot after holding sixth through the first 18 holes.
No. 2 Dalton State won the team crown, one stroke ahead of No. 7 SCAD Savannah. SCAD Savannah's Paula Sofia Suarez won medalist honors by seven strokes.
Up next, Milligan competes nearby at Cattails at MeadowView Golf Club in Kingsport, Tennessee, for the UVa.-Wise Classic on Monday, April 5. The No. 9 Buffs will host the Mountain Empire Intercollegiate on Monday-Tuesday, April 12-13, at Elizabethton Golf Club in Elizabethton, Tennessee.
