MILLIGAN, Tenn. (Oct. 30, 2020) – The Milligan University women's golf team ranks No. 8 according to the Golfstat Relative Ranking system, announced this week by Golfstat. The Buffs are No. 24 in the national top-25 poll, which the NAIA last announced in March.
Three Buffs rank individually in the top 30, with Michaela Lindahl the highest at No. 11. Alayna Perryman ranks No. 19 and Meryl Castle ranks No. 26. Lindahl's adjusted scoring average is 75.71 while Perryman and Castle are 77.42 and 78.28, respectively.
As a team, Milligan earned the No. 8 spot with an adjusted scoring average of 77.85. Only two schools across the NAIA posted a team scoring average lower than 77.
"Our women's team put together a really good fall season," said Head Coach Tony Wallingford. "They were able to compile a 30-2 record with two tournament championships and two runner-up finishes. I am proud of them. They have worked hard, and it has been neat to watch their improvement. Having said that, I know that they are on guard for complacency and want the spring season to be even better."
Milligan wrapped up the fall leg of its 2020-21 campaign with a record-breaking win over a pair of national top-20 schools this past week at the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate/Coastal Georgia Fall Invitational. It capped a fall season that saw the Buffs post two wins and two runners-up in four events. One of their runners-up came in the form of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Fall Championship title.
Lindahl earned all-tournament honors with a fourth-place finish at the final event, carding rounds of 76 and 74 to lead Milligan to the victory over No. 14 Southeastern and No. 18 Coastal Georgia. This followed Milligan winning the AAC Fall Championship by 16 strokes two weeks ago at Chateau Elan Resort.
