Kearney Tabbed AAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week
WALESKA, Ga. – Milligan University junior harrier Ellen-Mary Kearney picked up the first Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week honor of her 2024 season on Monday afternoon. The plaudits resulted from a fifth-place finish as an individual at the Firetower Project Run at Appalachian State on Friday evening with a time of 20:59. In addition, she helped the Lady Buffs to a third-place result out of 11 attending programs, finishing behind only NCAA DI's Wake Forest and Appalachian State.
The two-time NAIA XC All-American was just four seconds off of her personal-best mark in the 6k, which was set last season at the AAC Cross Country Championships.
Kearney and the Lady Buffs now look forward to the Brevard XC Classic in Brevard, N.C. on Saturday, Sept. 21.
