Ellen Mary Kearney reels in AAC Runner of the Week honors for second time
WALESKA, Ga. (October 10, 2022) – Milligan University freshmen Ellen Mary Kearney has been tabbed as the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second time this season.
WALESKA, Ga. (October 10, 2022) – Milligan University freshmen Ellen Mary Kearney has been tabbed as the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second time this season.
Kearney was Milligan's top overall finisher as the No. 1 Buffs finished first of 27 teams at the Royals Challenge. Milligan finished ahead of seven NCAA Division I teams, two nationally-ranked DII teams, seven regionally-ranked DII squads, a pair of regionally-ranked DIII units and two teams receiving votes in the NAIA top 25.
Kearney finished fourth overall of 269 runners with a 5k time of 17:22. Her effort moves up her Milligan's all-time cross country 5k leaderboard to No. 3 in program history. Caitlin Dominy (ninth), Alyssa Bearzi (22nd), Lizzy Lucason (29th) and Olivia Doran (40th) joined Kearney in the top 40 at Charlotte.
Kearney also collected AAC and USTFCCCA Runner of the Week honors after her debut on the same McAlpine Creek Park course two weeks ago.
Milligan cross country returns to action on Oct. 21 in Knoxville for the NAIA Appalachian Challenge.
