Ellen Mary Kearney honored as USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week
NEW ORELANS (September 28, 2022) – Milligan University freshman Ellen Mary Kearney was honored as the M-F Athletic National NAIA Women’s Athlete of the Week by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for her debut performance at the Queen City Invitational last week.
NEW ORELANS (September 28, 2022) – Milligan University freshman Ellen Mary Kearney was honored as the M-F Athletic National NAIA Women's Athlete of the Week by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for her debut performance at the Queen City Invitational last week.
Kearney finished second overall with a 5k time of 17:36 at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte. Her time was the fourth-fastest cross country 5k in program history.
Kearney led the No. 1 Buffs to the team title with a total score of 29. Milligan finished ahead of two NCAA Division I teams and three regionally-ranked DII institutions. The Buffs' team total time of 90:38 was the fastest recorded by an NAIA team this season.
Alyssa Bearzi (17:57), Caitlin Dominy (18:03) and Lizzy Lucason (18:18) finished fifth, eighth and 11th in the 144-woman field.
The Buffs host the Eli Cramer Invitational on the campus of Milligan on Friday evening.
