Four Milligan Volleyball Student-Athletes Named to CSC Academic All-District Team
AUSTIN, Texas - On Tuesday, College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced the 2024 Women's Volleyball Academic All-District Teams. Milligan had a quartet of honorees, with Ella Maiden, Zoie Larkins, Addison Varney and Avery Maiden earning the plaudits. To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and compete in 90 percent of the institution's matches played OR must start at least 66 percent of the institution's matches.
E. Maiden, a business administration major with a 3.69 GPA, was a top performer for the squad this season. She notched 307 kills out of the middle on a .419 hitting percentage, while also providing 96 blocks on the year. She had 39 solo stuffs and 57 block assists over the course of the season, eventually earning All-Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) First Team honors. She also set the career record for blocks, reaching 517 over her four-year stint at Milligan. She will move on to be considered for the CSC Academic All-America Team honor that will be announced on Jan. 14, 2025.
Larkins was the team's libero for the last two seasons, and posted an astounding 522 digs this year. The mathematics major has achieved a 4.00 GPA, showing a heavy commitment to her work in the classroom. She added 93 assists to her ledger statistically this season.
Varney was an important part of the rotation in the middle for the Buffs this year, as she had 121 kills and 63 blocks. She had eight solo rejections and 55 block assists. Varney has posted a 3.86 GPA in the rigorous biology program.
A. Maiden completes the list with her 3.84 GPA while majoring in biology. The Buffaloes' sophomore outside hitter was an All-AAC Second Team performer in 2024 with 312 kills on 1,016 attacks. She was a six-rotation player, as well, picking up 238 digs during the campaign, and helped out on the block with 54 rejections. She had 19 solo blocks and 35 assists.
