Milligan Volleyball Stays Scalding Hot, Sweeps Kentucky Christian for Tenth Straight Win
GREYSON, Ky. – A dominant performance by the Milligan University volleyball squad on Tuesday evening at Kentucky Christian University helped push the Buffaloes' win streak to 10 in a row. They swept past the Knights with little resistance to win their 20th game of the 2024 campaign (25-14, 25-17, 25-13).
Milligan was in control in the first set, pulling out a 25-14 triumph. The team hit .382 in the opening set to jump out in front.
Good times continued for Milligan in set two, as a .323 attacking clip with 16 kills led to a 25-17 win for the Lady Buffs.
Again, the pressure from the Buffaloes was too much for KCU to handle, as Milligan's .370 attacking clip resulted in a 25-13 win in the decisive stanza of the match.
Avery Maiden (13), Ella Maiden (12) and Shelby Miller (10) all had double-digit kills in the win, including attacking percentages of greater than .380. In the case of the Maidens, Avery posted a .591 mark and Ella came away with a .647 clip. Kolbie Greene set up 39 kills with assists in the win.
Zoie Larkins and Greene had 11 and 10 digs, respectively. The team had a stellar 18 block assists in the victory, including five from E. Maiden and four from Greene. A. Maiden, Miller, Isabel Cameron and Addison Varney each had two block assists and Kylie Haas added one more.
Milligan returns home on Friday, looking for a massive win over the Appalachian Athletic Conference's (AAC) current No. 2 team in the standings, Reinhardt University. The match also serves as the team's Senior Night battle, where the team will honor their five student-athletes who will be departing after this season.
