COLUMBIA, S.C. – On Friday night, the Milligan University volleyball team met up with the No. 23-ranked Rams of Columbia International University in Columbia, S.C. With the Buffaloes looking for a major win within the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC), they fell shy of the mark, dropping the match to the Rams in three sets (25-15, 25-17, 25-13).
Ella Maiden had a team-leading seven kills on 19 attempts with just a single error out of the middle, while Avery Maiden and Shelby Miller each had five kills, albeit with a .000 attacking percentage or less. Kobe Greene had 21 assists for a 7.00 assist/set average.
A trio of Milligan players put forth seven-dig efforts, with Riley Brinn, Zoie Larkins and Sierra Still playing those roles. Greene had six digs, as well, as the only other Buff with more than five pickups. The squad had five total blocks, with E. Maiden supplying two solo rejections. A. Maiden had a solo and an assist, while Addison Varney assisted on two blocks. The remaining block assist came from Kylie Haas.
After falling victim to a nationally ranked opponent, Milligan gets to return to the hardwood tomorrow morning for a matchup with Columbia College, as they look to get back to their winning ways and shake off a tough loss in short order.
