BLUEFIELD, Va. – On Thursday evening, The Milligan University volleyball squad began their Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) slate at Bluefield University. It was an unceremonious start to their conference season, as the Buffs were swept in short order by the Rams (25-17, 25-23, 25-22).
No Buffaloes hitter was able to notch double-digit putaways in the match, as the squad hit at just .084 for the match. Shelby Miller led the squad with nine kills on 27 attacks, while the sisters, Ella Maiden and Avery Maiden, notched seven apiece.
Faith Wilson led the squad with 14 assists, and Kolbie Greene added 11 of her own. The squad had a total of 28 assists in the bout.
Zoie Larkins totaled 18 digs in the three-set tilt, as just she and Riley Brinn (10) amassed 10 or more pickups against the Rams.
Milligan will look to get back on the right track on the road in Barbourville, Ky. On Saturday, Sept. 14 at 11 a.m. against Union Commonwealth University.
