Volleyball defeats Reinhardt for first time since 2016

WALESKA, Ga. (October 27, 2023) – The Milligan University volleyball team scored a four-set victory at Reinhardt on Friday evening.
The Buffs remain on track for a top-two seed in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) standings with the victory. Milligan stands at 22-6 on the season and 16-2 in AAC action. The win was Milligan's first victory over Reinhardt since 2016. Reinhardt falls to 20-6, 15-5 AAC.
The Buffs trailed 20-15 in the first set and rallied back to a 23-21 lead with an 8-2 rally. The Eagles tied the game at 23 before back-to-back kills by Shelby Miller cinched the first set for the Buffs 25-23.
The second set saw the Eagles with a late-set comeback to even the match at one set apiece. Milligan led 19-17 before Reinhardt collected six-straight points on their way to a 25-22 set two victory.
The third set was tied at six before Milligan outscored Reinhardt 19-5 the rest of the frame to go ahead 2-1 with a 25-11 set score.
The Buffs built an 18-13 lead in the fourth set but the Eagles stormed back to take a 19-18 lead with six-straight points. Milligan responded with seven of the next 10 points to clinch the match with a 25-22 set four score.
Miller led the Buffs with 16 kills on a .250 hitting percentage. Ella Maiden added 10 kills and seven total blocks. Greyson Stevens and Taylor Pavich each had six kills and combined for five total blocks.
Milligan had five players finish with double-digit digs and the Buffs' 94 total digs were the third-most by Milligan in a single game this season. Kolbie Greene notched 40 assists and 18 digs. Zoie Larkins had a season-high 25 digs. Rachel Falin recorded 13 digs, Hannah Holmes had 12 and Riley Brinn posted 10.
