Ella Maiden honored as AAC Defender of the Week

WALESKA, Ga. (September 4, 2023) – Milligan University middle blocker Ella Maiden was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Buffs to a 3-1 record at the Emileigh Cooper Memorial Classic over the weekend.

Maiden totaled 17 blocks in four matches with five-block outings against Shawnee State, Rio Grande and Point Park. In addition to her defensive prowess, Maiden smacked 42 kills on a .337 hitting percentage at the classic.

Through the first two weeks of the season Maiden leads the AAC with 32 total blocks and 1.10 blocks per set. She ranks third in the conference with a .361 hitting percentage, good for 20th in the nation.

The Buffs take on Lees-McCrae and King in Bristol, Tenn. on Friday before starting AAC play Saturday against Union.
