Volleyball sweeps Point on homecoming

The Buffs improve to 17-12 (13-7 AAC) while the Skyhawks are now 13-14 (9-10 AAC).
Back-to-back four point swings from each team kicked off set number one. Neither team was able to create much of a lead until Milligan reeled off four straight and five of the last six to sink Point 25-20. During the final stretch, Ella Maiden had two critical kills in addition to three Skyhawk errors.
After falling behind 1-0 to begin the second, the Buffs answered scoring four consecutive points to take a 4-1 lead. Point cut the deficit to just one (7-6) early in the set but Milligan was too sharp offensively as they scored the next seven points to take a 14-6 lead. The Skyhawks then used two five-nothing runs to knot the set at 16 forcing the Buffs to take a timeout. Following the timeout, Milligan went back on top 21-16 as they secured the next five points. The set ended 25-19 with the final point coming off a Taylor Pavich kill that was setup by Kolbie Greene.
The third set was dominated by the Buffs as they led for the entirety to complete the sweep over the Skyhawks. An early seven-nothing run gave Milligan some breathing room as they took an 11-3 lead. During the stretch, Milligan had four aces in addition to two kills from Greyson Stevens and one from Maiden. The Buffs scored the final four points in a row as they convincingly won the third set 25-10.
Maiden carried the offensive attack for the Buffs as she finished with a team-high 11 kills and accounted for 17.5 points to go along with three blocks. Stevens led both teams in hitting percentage (.545) as she tallied seven kills in 11 opportunites. On the defensive side, Paxton Adkins ended the day with 15 digs while Taylor Pavich had four blocks and accounted for 8.5 points.
The Buffs close out their regular-season Tuesday, senior night, with a matchup against Tennessee Wesleyan at 6:30 in Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
