Volleyball rallies to hard-fought victory at KCU

GRAYSON, Ky. (October 25, 2022) – The Milligan University volleyball team won an extremely competitive four-set match at Kentucky Christian on Tuesday evening.
All four sets were decided by two points with Milligan taking two sets with scores beyond 25. The Buffs moved to 16-11 and 12-6 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play. KCU falls to 9-20, 5-12 AAC.
Milligan earned a victory in the Buffs' final road game of the season with a score line of 24-26, 28-26, 25-23, 29-17.
The Buffs fought off a three set point opportunities by KCU in the second frame. Late kills by Sarah Grace Larkey, Shelby Miller and Taylor Pavich take the set to even the match score at 1-1.
KCU led 23-21 late in the third set but the Buffs rattled off four-straight points to win 25-23. Greyson Stevens had a hand in back-to-back points to tie the game at 23 and Pavich put the Buffs ahead with a kill before an error decided the set in Milligan's favor.
In the fourth it was KCU who survived three match points and tied the set at 25-25. The Knights had a set point chance of their own but Ella Maiden notched two late kills before Larkey clinched the match for the Buffs.
Miller paced the Buffs' offensive effort with 19 kills and seven aces. Maiden had 11 kills, a .320 hitting percentage and five total blocks. Pavich had 11 kills, eight digs and three blocks. Larkey notched eight kills. Stevens had six kills and four blocks.
Kolbie Greene accumulated 42 assists, 19 digs and two aces. Paxton Adkins led Milligan's back row with 21 digs.
The Buffs combined for 11 blocks and 10 service aces on the night.
Milligan hosts Reinhardt on Friday evening.
