Volleyball clinches 14th-straight winning season in AAC play in triumph over Montreat
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (October 20, 2022) – The Milligan University volleyball team secured its 14th-straight winning season in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play as the Buffs dispatched Montreat in four sets on Thursday night in the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (October 20, 2022) – The Milligan University volleyball team secured its 14th-straight winning season in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play as the Buffs dispatched Montreat in four sets on Thursday night in the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
The Buffs earned the 3-1 victory on Dig Pink night and won with set scores of 25-7, 22-25, 25-21, 25-18. Milligan rises to 15-11 on the year and 11-6 in AAC play. Montreat falls to 8-15, 7-8 AAC.
Milligan raced out to a 16-4 edge in the opening set and went on to win the frame by 18 points. The Buffs hit .414 with 13 kills to one error in the period.
Montreat won the second set, but Milligan would not be deterred as the Buffs used a five-point run to take control of the third set and 5-1 run gave the Buffs the lead for good in the final frame.
Six different players recorded at least six kills on the evening as Sarah Grace Larkey and Ella Maiden led Milligan with nine kills apiece. Taylor Pavich and Greyson Stevens each had eight kills. Riley Brinn turned in a career high seven kills and Shleby Miller finished with six kills.
Kolbie Greene had 38 assists, 18 digs, four kills and four aces. Paxton Adkins finished with 21 digs and five assists. Hannah Holmes registered 11 digs.
The Buffs sit in fifth place in the AAC standings with four games left in the regular season. Milligan travels to Kentucky Christian on Tuesday evening for a 6:30 p.m. match.
