Volleyball drops AAC match at Brenau

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (October 14, 2022) – The Milligan University volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision at Brenau on Friday evening.
The Buffs fall to 12-10 overall and 9-5 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) action. Brenau rises to 8-13, 6-7 AAC.
The Tigers took the match with set scores of 25-18, 25-21, 24-26, 25-18.
A sluggish start saw Milligan fall behind 9-2 to open the match as Brenau led by as many as 10 (16-6). Late in the set, Milligan narrowed the margin to five (23-18) but the Tigers closed out the set 25-18.
The Buffs worked from behind in the second set as the hosts raced out to a 12-4 edge and establisheda 22-12 lead. Milligan battled back to a two-point game (23-21) but Breanu recorded the next two points to take the set.
Milligan flipped the script by leading by six (14-6) in the third set. The Buffs led 24-21 before Brenau survived three-straight set points to extend the set. Consecutive kills by Ella Maiden allowed Milligan to extend the match with a 26-24 set win.
A six-point run turned an 11-10 set into a 17-10 Brenau lead and the hosts never trailed again in the fourth set as Brenau took the conference victory with a 25-18 set triumph.
Shelby Miller had 12 kills with a .276 hitting percentage and two blocks. Sarah Grace Larkey recorded nine kills. Maiden finished with eight kills and five blocks. Greyson Stevens hd six kills and four blocks.
Kolbie Greene recorded 38 assists and Paxton Adkins led Milligan with 17 digs.
