BLUEFIELD, Va. (October 19, 2021) – The Milligan University volleyball team was defeated in four sets at Bluefield on Tuesday evening in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) action.
All four sets were decided by five points or fewer as the Rams earned the 3-1 victory 25-20, 22-25, 25-21, 25-21. Bluefield moves to 16-9 on the year and 12-4 in AAC play. Milligan falls to 11-15, 9-7 AAC.
In all four sets, the scoring margin was within two points at some point when at least one of the teams reached 20 points. The largest lead either team enjoyed on the night was when Milligan led by seven multiple times in their set-two win.
Carley Gregory notched double-digit kills for the fourth time in the Buffs' last five outings as she smacked 14 kills at a .171 hitting percentage.
Ella Maiden smacked 10 kills at a .250 clip and logged four total blocks. Elise Greogry had eight kills while Sarah Grace Larkey added six.
Taylor Pavich distributed 21 assists while Kolbie Greene added 17 and nine digs.
Paxton Adkins posted 14 digs while Layla Grant contributed 13 and Cameron McConnell had 10.
Bluefield's Leslie Flores and Lauren Sotomayor combined for 36 kills on the night as Bluefield hit .257 for the match.
Volleyball heads to Montreat Thursday evening for their second meeting this season with the Cavaliers.
