Buffs post second-straight sweep with 3-0 win over Truett McConnell
Milligan, Tenn. (October 16, 2021) — The Milligan University volleyball team completed their second consecutive sweep in a two-day span win a win against Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) opponent Truett McConnell. The Buffs won with scores of 25-18, 25-22, and 25-16.
Milligan, Tenn. (October 16, 2021) — The Milligan University volleyball team completed their second consecutive sweep in a two-day span win a win against Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) opponent Truett McConnell. The Buffs won with scores of 25-18, 25-22, and 25-16.
After adding another W to the win column, Milligan climbs to a record of 11-14 overall (9-7 AAC). Truett McConnell drops to 10-16 (6-8 AAC).
Milligan and Truett McConnell found themselves tied at 10 points apiece after both teams traded six point runs early in set one. After multiple kills by Carley Gregory and several TMU errors, the Buffs handily won the first 25-18.
Abigail Byington provided a substantial amount of production in the second set totaling six kills, two assists and three digs. Additionally, she led the Buffs with a .455 hitting percentage powering Milligan past TMU 25-22.
The third and final set was won by Milligan with a dominant 25-16 score.
Layla Grant and Cameron McConnell played key roles for the Buffs coming away with 14 and 11 digs. Ella Maiden was also accumulated eight kills and four total blocks.
Gregory led Milligan with 10 total kills and was responsible for 10.5 points scored.
Taylor Pavich and Kolbie Greene both had nice games adding 15 and 13 assists for the Milligan offense.
Next up, the Buffs hit the road again for another conference matchup against Bluefield on Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m.
