Volleyball downed in three sets at Bryan
DAYTON, Tenn. (September 28, 2021) – The Milligan University volleyball team dropped an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) contest 3-0 at Bryan on Tuesday evening.
DAYTON, Tenn. (September 28, 2021) – The Milligan University volleyball team dropped an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) contest 3-0 at Bryan on Tuesday evening.
Milligan fell to 6-10 on the season and 4-3 in league play. Bryan extended its win streak to eight games as the Lions rose to 12-3 and 8-0 in conference action.
Bryan won in three sets, 25-21, 25-17, 25-19. Milligan hung with the Lions in the early portions and middle portions of each set.
The Buffs overcame an early five-point deficit to tie set one at 10 and stayed within striking distance, trailing 23-21 before Bryan closed out the set. The second set was tied at 14 before Bryan scored eight out of the next nine points to take control. After trailing 17-11 in set three, Milligan battled back to a 21-19 margin before the hosts closed the match out.
Carley Gregory led the offensive effort with nine kills on a .280 hitting percentage. Elise Gregory had seven kills at a .211 clip. Ella Maiden had four kills and two total blocks.
Taylor Pavich dealt 23 assists, had eight digs, four kills and three aces.
Cameron McConnell recorded 15 digs and Abigail Byington had three total blocks.
The Buffs return to the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse for a Friday night AAC matchup with CIU.
