Gregory makes AAC first team to highlight postseason awards
Carley Gregory of the Milligan University women’s volleyball team has been selected as an Appalachian Athletic Conference All-Conference first team honoree, announced the AAC Friday upon the conclusion of the regular season and postseason tournament.
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (March 26, 2021) – Carley Gregory of the Milligan University women's volleyball team has been selected as an Appalachian Athletic Conference All-Conference first team honoree, announced the AAC Friday upon the conclusion of the regular season and postseason tournament.
This marked the second time in as many seasons with Milligan that Gregory made the All-Conference team, as last season she was named to the All-Conference second team.
Additionally, Elise Gregory made the AAC champions of character team, and Julia Codispoti, Mackenzie Simpson, C. Gregory, Sydney Hurd, Sarah Grace Larkey, Paxton Adkins, Lauren Petty, Cameron McConnell, Jericka Emert, E. Gregory and Abigail Byington made the AAC All-Academic team. Previously announced awards included Codispoti and McConnell, who were honored as part of the AAC all-tournament team.
C. Gregory was one of the nation's top hitters this season, her senior season, as she ranks No. 14 in the NAIA in total kills and in the top 50 for kills per game. She easily held the highest ranking for kills in the AAC, tallying 351 which was nearly 100 more than any of her all-conference counterparts. At 3.5 kills per game, she ranks No. 4 in the league.
Gregory posted three matches this season with 20 or more kills, nine matches with 15 or more kills, and 21 matches with double figures for kills.
After earning runner-up at the AAC tournament earlier this week, the Buffs are set to compete next in the NAIA Women's Volleyball National Championship. The opening round date is scheduled for Saturday, April 17, with final site matches to follow Tuesday-Saturday, April 27 – May 1, for teams that advance.
