Red hot Buffs cruise to fifth straight win
Behind 13 kills with no errors from Carley Gregory and 25 digs from Layla Grant, the Milligan University women’s volleyball team won its fifth straight match in swift and decisive fashion, 25-20, 25-14, 25-21, over Bluefield Tuesday night inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (Oct. 27, 2020) – Behind 13 kills with no errors from Carley Gregory and 25 digs from Layla Grant, the Milligan University women's volleyball team won its fifth straight match in swift and decisive fashion, 25-20, 25-14, 25-21, over Bluefield Tuesday night inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
Milligan (8-4) closed the first set on a 9-4 run before a 16-5 run in the second set put the Buffs ahead two games to none. In the final set, teams were tied at 19-19 before kills from Julia Codispoti, Taylor Pavich and Gregory helped Milligan close things out on a 6-2 run.
The win for Milligan moved the team into further control of third place in the North Division of the Appalachian Athletic Conference. The Buffs are only 1 ½ games back of second place and 2 ½ out of first.
Eight Buffs entered the kill column in the win, including Gregory with 13, Codispoti (seven), Abby Falcone (seven), Sarah Grace Larkey (four) and Abigail Byington (three). Pavich (18 assists) and Sydney Hurd (13 assists) shared the duties as setter, while Elise Gregory chipped in with 12 digs.
