Buffs suffer sweep to Union at home

MILLIGAN, Tenn. (Sept. 26, 2020) – Jericka Emert tallied a career high eight kills to lead the Milligan University women's volleyball team Saturday inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse, but the Buffaloes fell in three sets to Union, 25-10, 25-22, 25-16.
Emert was the first of five Buffs in the kill column, with Julia Codispoti and Carley Gregory each recording six and Elise Gregory recording four. Sydney Hurd tallied 22 assists and 13 digs, and Layla Grant and E. Gregory both made it to double figures in digs with 11 and 10, respectively.
Milligan (2-3) and Union (5-0) started the match even through the first 10 points until the Bulldogs used a 20-4 run to pull away with the opening set. The second set stayed close until near the end as back-to-back Emert kills made it 16-15, but the Bulldogs won the next three points to start a 7-2 run to pull away. Milligan cut down the late deficit in the second set with a pair of Codispoti kills highlighting a 5-1 run, but it was not enough.
Union then went on an 8-1 run early in the final set to pull away and seal the match.
