Geren honored as Milligan Female Athlete of the Year
Senior Kellee Geren of the Milligan College volleyball team was named the Milligan College Female Athlete of the Year. The announcement was made Thursday afternoon during the college’s award ceremony.
MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (May 1, 2020) – Senior Kellee Geren of the Milligan College volleyball team was named the Milligan College Female Athlete of the Year. The announcement was made Thursday afternoon during the college's award ceremony.
Geren finished her senior year by earning honorable mention on the 2019 NAIA and American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America teams. Geren also finished her senior campaign by being named AVCA Northeast Region Player of the Year, Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Year, AAC Setter of the Year, AVCA All-Region, All-AAC first team and AAC All-Tournament team.
Geren won AAC setter of the week six times during the season and won the weekly award 19 times in her career.
Geren led the league in assists with 1,316 on the season and averaged 10 per set. Geren also set a new school record for career assists with 4,902, passing the previous mark of 4,279 set in 2012. Geren finished her senior campaign with 371 digs, 27 service aces and 75 kills.
"It is an honor to be recognized as Milligan's female athlete of the year," Geren said. "I had the best four years at Milligan, both academically and athletically. Being chosen for this award is a reflection of the hard work and love my teammates and I pour into the sport of volleyball, and I could not have been successful without them, Coach Bays, and my family."
