Outdoor Track concludes Lee Flames Invite
CLEVELAND, Tenn. (April 8, 2023) – The Milligan University outdoor track & field teams concluded their weekend with several conference qualifiers on the second day of the Lee Flames Invitational on Saturday.

"The weather really made it tough on everyone today," said head coach Chris Layne. "Cooler temps and non-stop rain took the edge away, especially for our technical event folks. Our steeplechase crew took another step today and I thought our 800 folks competed well. Skylan also bounced back to finish well in the 100."
In a field of over 80 runners in the men's 800, Will Stockley was 12th in 1:55.17 and Sylas Chambers was 14th in 1:55.30. The duo were joined by Carter Windham (1:57.59) and Aaron Vaughn (1:59.35) as Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) qualifiers in the event.
Alex Brittain approached his own school record in the 3000-meter steeplechase. He ran 9:41.15 to finish 14th overall. Brittain was joined by Pablo Rivas (9:58.38), Keaton Hincher (10:07.24) and Thomas Johnson (10:17.84) in reaching the AAC standard.
Ali Burns and Kaelyn Slaughter both improved on their earlier marks in the women's steeplechase. Both hit AAC marks with Burns finishing in 12:28.56 and Slaughter in 12:35.50.
Keith Fletcher finished sixth in the top heat of the 110-meter hurdles in 15.62.
Megan Christian made the AAC standard in the 400 in 1:01.55. Skylan Stephens (51.24) and Ja'Quan Williams (51.56) ran under the conference standard in the 400. Stephens added another conference effort in the 100-meter dash in 11.18.
The Buffs return to action at the Conference Qualifier on Thursday ahead of the AAC Championships April 21-22.
