Buffs wrap up at Montreat Track & Field Invitational

"This weekend ticked a bunch of different boxes for our teams and I think they took advantage of the opportunity, - it was cold, and extremely windy, but they didn't let that bother them," said head coach Chris Layne. "They came back on day two and competed, gained valuable reps and got to focus on things they've been working on in practice."
Ellie Ayers recorded the top discus throw in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) this season at 37.04 meters. Corey Greeson was 10th in the men's discus with the a throw of 39.97 meters.
Keith Fletcher posted a personal-best time and top-eight finish in the 110 meter hurdles. Fletcher finished second in his section and seventh overall with a time of 15.99. He added an 11th-place showing in the 400 meter hurdles (1:03.45). Both of his hurdles results were top-four AAC marks in 2022.
Skylan Stephens took sixth in the 200 meter dash in 22.62 and Kamdyn Lee joined Stephens as a top-15 finish (23.23) in a 71-man field.
In the 400, Megan Christian finished fourth in 1:01.33, the second-fastest time in the AAC this spring. Kiley Wood was 10th in 1:02.43. Christian also finished 15th in the 200 (27.44). Ja'Quan Williams took sixth in the men's 400 in 54.80.
Will Owen finished eighth in the 800 in his Milligan outdoor debut in 2:02.21. Mikel Valladares (2:03.88) and Samir Koko (2:04.25) posted top-13 finishes in the 41-man 800 field.
Milligan's men's 4x100 relay scored as Williams, Fletcher, Conner Goodrich and Skylan Stephens ran 43.67.
Blake Fauver was 11th in the triple jump (12.01 meters).
The Buffs head to Williamsburg, Virginia to compete in the William & Mary Relays next weekend.
