Indoor Track earns seven All-American awards at NAIA National Championships
BROOKINGS, S.D. (March 2, 2024) – The Milligan University indoor track and field teams earned seven All-America honors no the final day of the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships at the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in South Dakota.
BROOKINGS, S.D. (March 2, 2024) – The Milligan University indoor track and field teams earned seven All-America honors no the final day of the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships at the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in South Dakota.
"I said it yesterday, but this meet is at a place where you've got to be at your best to even get on the podium," said head coach Chris Layne. "Last year Romario's 400 time was 3rd and I think that's indicative of so many events. Really proud of how our student-athletes support one another, conduct themselves and to leave here with 10 All-American honors is a testament to who they are."
Milligan's women finished 18th in the team standings and the men finished 29th overall.
Caitlin Dominy ran to a national runner-up finish in the 3k in 10:11.91. She secured All-America honors in the 3k for the second-straight season.
Ellen-Mary Kearney secured All-America honors in her fifth-straight NAIA National Championship appearance. The sophomore finished fifth in the mile in 4:57.05 to repeat as an All-American in the event.
Will Stockley and Bryn Woodall each collected All-America honors in the 3k. Stockley finished fifth in 8:20.08 and Woodall was seventh in 8:24.05.
Aaron Jones earned All-America honors in the 5k for the third-straight season. Jones ran 14:41.85 to finish seventh.
Romario Taylor set Milligan's 400 record for the second-straight day and earned All-America honors in his NAIA National Championship debut. Taylor ran 47.47 to finish eighth and snag the final All-American spot in the final.
Woodall, Ja'Quan Williams, Sylas Chambers and Stockley closed out the meet with an All-America finish in the distance medley relay. The Buffs clocked in at 10:16.34 to finish eighth.
Ashlyn Haas reached the championship final in the 3k and finished 12th in 10:42.57.
The Buffs set a pair of program records at the national championship meet. Taylor set the 400 record on back-to-back days and the Buffs' preliminary DMR time of 10:00.21 also established a new top team time.
