BROOKINGS, S.D. (March 4, 2022) – The Milligan University indoor track and field team had four individuals advance to tomorrow's national championship final in their respective events on day two of the NAIA National Championships at the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex on Friday.
"Another really strong day on both sides," said head coach Chris Layne. "Will got things going for us in the mile and then to see Sylas make that final as a freshman really speaks to his composure. Avery looked so controlled in her 3k heat and then Bryn and the boys ran so tough in the 3k...really not a bad race from anyone today."
Will Stockley punched his ticket to tomorrow's mile final with a 4:13.56 effort to finish second in his heat. He logged the third-fastest preliminary time overall.
Sylas Chambers advanced to the final in the 800 in dramatic fashion. He ran down several runners in the final straight-away to finish second in his heat as he recorded a personal best time of 1:54.10.
Fresh off her standout anchor leg of Milligan's record-setting distance medley relay yesterday, Avery DeWolf Burton cruised to a first-place finish in her 3k preliminary heat in 10:09.26.
