Indoor Track collects 26 all-conference honors at AAC Championships
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (February 25, 2022) – The Milligan University men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams combined to capture 26 all-conference awards at the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Championships Feb. 17-18.
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (February 25, 2022) – The Milligan University men's and women's indoor track and field teams combined to capture 26 all-conference awards at the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Championships Feb. 17-18.
Milligan's men took home the AAC indoor team championship for the first time in history as the women's team finished third overall. The Buffs combined for 12 AAC championships, five championship records and two school records at the event.
All-AAC designation is awarded to athletes and relays who finish in the top-three at their respective event at the championship meet. Milligan's women collected 11 all-conference certificates while the men snagged 15 All-AAC awards.
Will Stockley and Avery DeWolf Burton took home AAC titles in the 1k, mile and distance medley relay and were named AAC Track Athletes of the Year. Bryn Woodall was named the AAC Freshman of the Year and head coach Chris Layne and his staff collected AAC Men's Coaching Staff of the Year honors.
Stockley, DeWolf, Woodall and Caitlin Dominy were all three-time All-AAC honorees. Alyssa Bearzi, Gracie Allen, Megan Christian, Sylas Chambers, Aaron Jones and Eli Cramer were two-time All-AAC recipients.
Both distance medley relays set AAC Championship records, Stockley ran the fastest mile in AAC indoor championship history and Burton set the AAC's 1k record. Woodall ran the fastest indoor 3k in Milligan and AAC Championship history at 8:23.32 and Jones set the all-time indoor 5k mark for Milligan and the meet in 14:44.68.
Milligan will send 10 men and six women to Brookings, S.D. for the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships next week.
