DeWolf wins national honor
Milligan University's Avery DeWolf, the Appalachian Athletic Conference indoor track & field athlete of the year, has been named the NAIA track & field indoor track athlete of the week for Feb. 15-21.
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (Feb. 24, 2021) -- Milligan University's Avery DeWolf, the Appalachian Athletic Conference indoor track & field athlete of the year, has been named the NAIA track & field indoor track athlete of the week for Feb. 15-21.
DeWolf earned her sixth AAC athlete of the week award last week and topped it with the national recognition. DeWolf collected five of her six AAC weekly awards this season, with three in track & field.
DeWolf, a four-time AAC champion at this year's AAC competition, led the No. 13 women to an AAC runner-up finish at the league championships.
DeWolf won all four events she competed in, including breaking the AAC Championship record in the distance medley relay. Already ranked No. 5 nationally in the 3k and No. 22 in the 1k, DeWolf ran the No. 7 mile time and her group ran the No. 3 DMR time.
DeWolf and the Buffs compete next at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships, set for Wednesday-Saturday, March 3-6, in Yankton, South Dakota.
