DeWolf earns AAC track athlete of the week
Milligan University junior Avery DeWolf transitioned her cross country dominance straight into indoor track & field season and has been named Appalachian Athletic Conference women’s track athlete of the week. The AAC made the announcement Monday for the week ending Nov. 22.

(Nov. 23, 2020) – Milligan University junior Avery DeWolf transitioned her cross country dominance straight into indoor track & field season and has been named Appalachian Athletic Conference women's track athlete of the week. The AAC made the announcement Monday for the week ending Nov. 22.
The award was DeWolf's fourth weekly award of her career, although the first for track & field. DeWolf previously won the cross country award twice this season following a season that saw her win AAC cross country runner of the year.
DeWolf experienced a highly successful weekend at Columbia International's Rams Winter Challenge this past week. She ran only one time but came away with several notable marks, including a win and a national A standard.
DeWolf won the 5k race in 17:42, six seconds faster than the rest of the field and 36 seconds under the national qualifying standard.
DeWolf and the Buffs next will compete at the Keydet Invitational in Lexington, Virginia, on Saturday, Jan. 16, to start a full slate of indoor events on the schedule for the spring semester. The NAIA Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field National Championships are currently set for March 3-6 in Brookings, South Dakota.
