Owen receives first AAC weekly honor
After leading the Milligan College women’s cross country team to the NAIA Women’s Cross Country National Championship last fall, sophomore Bekah Owen has continued her success into track season and has been named Appalachian Athletic Conference runner of the week for the first time in her career. The announcement was made Monday afternoon by the league office for the week ending Sunday, Jan. 19.

(Jan. 20, 2020) – After leading the Milligan College women's cross country team to the NAIA Women's Cross Country National Championship last fall, sophomore Bekah Owen has continued her success into track season and has been named Appalachian Athletic Conference runner of the week for the first time in her career. The announcement was made Monday afternoon by the league office for the week ending Sunday, Jan. 19.
Owen competed in the VMI Keydet Invitational this past week in the 3000 meters where she finished fourth out of 34 runners. Owen secured the national A standard in the 3k with a personal best time of 10:16. Her time is No. 2 in the AAC and No. 7 in all of the NAIA this season.
Before their meet at the Keydet Invitational, Milligan competed in the ETSU Track & Field Invitational two weeks ago and Owen was the highest finish for Milligan in the women's mile in third place with a personal best time of 5:19.14, an AAC qualifying time.
Owen and the rest of the Milligan College track and field team will compete again at the Finn Pincus Invitational, Jan. 24-25.
