Buffs Women’s Tennis Defeats Brenau in Georgia
GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Milligan University's women's tennis squad continued their Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) slate on Monday afternoon in Gainesville, Ga. against the Brenau University Golden Tigers. The Buffaloes came away with a strong 5-2 win with four two-set triumphs in singles and the doubles point in their favor.
The singles competition consisted of a No. 2 singles win by Sophie Dunman by a final tally of 6-1, 6-3. That was followed by a No. 4 singles triumph from Tiana Shelton, in which she dominated 6-2, 6-1. Trinity Fox also was impressive in the No. 5 match, as she ran away with a 6-3, 6-1 decision, and Laurel Rich took hold of a much more tight bout in the sixth tilt. She won 7-5, 6-4.
Doubles brought a trio of Milligan wins, as none of those contests were ever in doubt. Marta Miralles and Dunman won the top match by a final of 6-2. Then, Lee Ann Endler and Shelton took a 6-2 victory over their opponents, as well. Lauren Wimmer and Fox also won their tilt, 6-4, but did not count toward the overall outcome.
The women, along with the men, will next compete on Saturday, Mar. 22 at 1 p.m. at Mathes Tennis Center against the Columbia College Koalas.
