Tennis begins conference play against TWU
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (February 22, 2024) – The Milligan University tennis teams began Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play against a pair of top-five ranked Tennessee Wesleyan squads on Thursday at the Mathes Tennis Center. The Buffs dropped both matches 7-0.
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (February 22, 2024) – The Milligan University tennis teams began Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play against a pair of top-five ranked Tennessee Wesleyan squads on Thursday at the Mathes Tennis Center. The Buffs dropped both matches 7-0.
The Bulldogs came in ranked No. 2 in the NAIA men's top 25 and No. 5 on the women's side. Milligan men fall to 2-6, 0-1 AAC while the Buffs' women are 4-4, 0-1 AAC.
Sophie Dunman and Kylie Enarson played the closest doubles match of the day as the duo fell 6-4 at first doubles in the women's match. Nathan Smiley and Ryan Thomas battled to a 6-3 defeat at No. 1 doubles.
Trinity Fox went to the third set super tiebreaker and came up two points short in a 6-1, 2-6, 10-8 decision at sixth singles. Sophie Dunman and Lauren Wimmer both won six games in defeats at third and fourth singles.
Gonzaga Lafarga went to a third set but fell 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 at No. 2 singles. Stefan Macheiner took five games in the opening set at first singles before falling 6-0 in the second. Thomae won seven games in a 6-2, 7-5 defeat at No. 4 singles.
The Buffs travel to Cumberlands on Saturday.
