Women’s Tennis wins at UVA Wise 7-0

WISE, Va. (October 7, 2023) – The Milligan University tennis teams traveled to Virginia to take on UVA Wise on Saturday. The Buffs took a 7-0 win in the women's match and fell 4-3 on the men's side.

The Milligan women's tennis team moves to 3-1 on the season while the men fall to 2-2.

Milligan's women took the doubles point with Kylie Enarson and Lauren Wimmer taking a 6-4 win at second doubles and Tiana Shelton and Trinity Fox won at No. 3 doubles 6-1. The Cavaliers took all three doubles matches on the men's side.

Enarson won at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-2. Marta Miralles won at second singles (6-4, 3-6, 10-7) and Macy Kennedy triumphed at third singles (6-3, 5-7, 10-4) in super tiebreakers.

Shelton won at No. 4 singles 6-4, 6-3 and Wimmer was a 6-2, 6-2 winner at No. 5 singles. Fox earned the win at sixth singles 8-3.

On the men's side, Stefan Macheiner won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Gonzaga Lafarga took a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles and Marcos Moreno pulled out a three-set win at fifth singles (6-7, 7-5, 7-6).

The Cavs won a pair of three-set singles matches at No. 6 and No. 6 singles to pull out the match by a single point.

The Buffs finish their fall season at the Belmont Abbey Fall Invitational next week.
