Women’s Tennis wins, Men’s Tennis falls at Point
WEST POINT, Ga. (March 19, 2022) – The Milligan University tennis teams traveled to Georgia to take on Point in a pair of Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) matchups. Milligan’s women scored a 6-2 victory while the men were defeated by the No. 22 Skyhawks 6-1.
WEST POINT, Ga. (March 19, 2022) – The Milligan University tennis teams traveled to Georgia to take on Point in a pair of Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) matchups. Milligan's women scored a 6-2 victory while the men were defeated by the No. 22 Skyhawks 6-1.
Milligan's men fall to 9-5, 1-3 AAC and the Buffs' women rise to 10-5, 2-3 AAC.
Milligan's women' picked up the doubles point as No. 2 and No. 3 doubles were victorious. Kylie Enarson and Sophie Dunman combined for a 6-2 win at second doubles and Karson Light and Macy Kennedy breezed to a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles. Kaitlin Barrett and Makenna Peterson went the distance at No. 1 doubles but were edged in a tiebreaker 6-7.
In singles play, Barrett took a three-set win at the top flight 4-6, 6-4, 7-6. Enarson won in straight sets (6-0, 6-0) at third singles and Dunman notched a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles. Light took No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-1. The Buffs were competitive at No. 2 and No. 6 singles as Kennedy Fell 1-6, 6-4, 3-6 and Hannah Nelson went down 6-7, 4-6.
In the men's match, Justin Rigsby and Ryan Thomas combined for a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles. Both of the Buffs top two doubles units competed, but ultimately fell 4-6.
Thomas collected the lone singles victory for Milligan with a 6-4, 6-4 showing at No. 6 singles. Nathan Smiley and Marcos Moreno both won seven games but fell 3-6, 4-6 at No. 1 and No. 3 singles.
The Buffs return home for an AAC match with SCAD Atlanta on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.
