Women’s Tennis downs King in home opener
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (October 17, 2021) ? The Milligan University tennis teams hosted King for their home openers on Sunday afternoon. The women's team picked up a 6-1 victory while the men were edged 4-3.
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (October 17, 2021) – The Milligan University tennis teams hosted King for their home openers on Sunday afternoon. The women's team picked up a 6-1 victory while the men were edged 4-3.
Milligan's women rise to 3-0 on the year while the men move to 2-1.
The Buffs' women took the doubles point with Kaitlin Barrett and Macy Kennedy earning a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles and Kylie Enarson and Sophie Dunman combining for a 6-2 victory at second doubles.
Dunman triumphed in a tiebreaker to notch a 4-6, 6-4 (10-4) triumph at No. 2 singles. Enarson, Kennedy and Karson Light all picked up wins at No. 3 through No. 5 singles. Milligan earned wins by default at No. 3 doubles and sixth singles due as King competed with five players.
Men's Tennis picked up the doubles point with Derian Janeke and Nathan Smiley earning a 7-6 (7-4) victory at No. 1 doubles and Justin Rigsby and Ryan Thomas securing a 6-1 win at third doubles.
Three singles matches went to third set tiebreakers with King winning all three to power the Tornado to a 4-3 match win.
Rigsby took a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles and Ryan Thomas won 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 6 singles spot.
Milligan tennis closes out its fall schedule on Oct. 29 at Mars Hill.
