Tennis completes regular season with sweeps at Johnson
Kylie Enarson, Ryan Thomas and Carter Rigsby won without dropping a game, and the Milligan University tennis teams swept Johnson University in the regular-season finale Monday on the road.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (April 12, 2021) – Kylie Enarson, Ryan Thomas and Carter Rigsby won without dropping a game, and the Milligan University tennis teams swept Johnson University in the regular-season finale Monday on the road.
The Buffaloes were coming off a tough stretch of their schedule, as the men had faced six top-20 opponents in their last eight matches while the women have faced six top-25 schools this semester, including five in their last seven.
Enarson won 6-0, 6-0 at three singles while Thomas and Rigsby won by the same score at two and four singles, respectively. The rest of the Buffaloes posted similar results as the women combined to drop only 16 games and the men combined to drop only 21 games.
Karson Light won her sixth singles match of the season, 6-1, 6-0 at four singles. Marlaina Peterson and Makenna Peterson won in a tiebreak at No. 1 doubles, the former picking up her team-leading sixth doubles win of the year.
Charlie Moseley won his team-leading seventh singles match 6-0, 6-4 at three singles on the men's side. Nathan Smiley played in the No. 1 position and won 6-2, 6-0 for his fourth win.
Milligan next competes at the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament, set for Thursday-Saturday, April 15-17, in Chattanooga. Seedings and match times will be announced by the AAC later this week.
