Buffs wrap busy AAC week with win

MILLIGAN, Tenn. (April 2, 2021) – Wins from top to bottom highlighted the Milligan University women's tennis team's efforts Friday as the Buffaloes took down Bluefield 7-0 at Mathes Tennis Center.
It capped a hard week for the Buffs, who had faced four national top-20 teams in the last five matches on the women's side and five national top-20 teams in the last seven matches on the men's side. Friday's men's match against Bluefield was canceled.
Kaitlin Barrett, who has played exclusively as Milligan's No. 1 singles player this year, earned the hardest-fought victory of the day, winning 10-8 in a third set super tiebreaker. On down the list, it was all straight sets victories for the Buffaloes. Karson Light won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 singles while Rachel Dove won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6 singles, both picking up their team-leading fifth wins of the season.
Milligan started the day with a sweep through the doubles, as Barrett and Light won 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, Kylie Enarson and Macy Kennedy won 6-0 at No. 2 doubles, and Marlaina Peterson and Hannah Nelson won 6-1 at No. 3 doubles. Peterson won for the fifth time in doubles this season, which leads the team.
Milligan finishes the regular season next Saturday, April 10, with two matches in Knoxville, facing Johnson and Oakland City at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
