CSC Selects Four Buffs Women's Swimmers to All-District Team
GREENWOOD, Ind. - On Tuesday, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District women's swimming and diving team was unveiled, with four Milligan swimmers recognized for their excellence in the classroom and in the pool. Mary Grace Bitting, Azaliia Gabdrakipova, Teagan Jose and Riley Renaud were selected for the award, while both Bitting and Renaud will continue on to the be considered for the Academic All-America team.
Bitting's 3.82 GPA in the Biology program, coupled with her impressive fourth-place finish nationally in the 200 yard butterfly. She was an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) champion in the 200 butterfly, as well, while qualifying for nationals in both the 100 and 200 butterfly and the 200 individual medley.
Gabdrakipova has posted a 3.78 GPA in her Business Administration program, and was a top-five finisher in both the 100 and 200 backstroke, while going to nationals for both those events, as well.
Jose is studying Exercise Science, and has a 3.65 GPA in the major. She was a top-five conference finisher in three events, the 200 breaststroke, 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley. She was an All-American at nationals in the 200 breaststroke, while also competing in the 100 breaststroke and the 200 IM.
Renaud's 3.52 GPA within the Nursing program at Milligan is impressive, and her athletic accolades are just the same. She was the AAC champ in the 1650 freestyle and the 200 freestyle and won the female swimmer of the year for the conference. She also was the runner-up in the 500 freestyle. At nationals, she was an All-American in both the 1650 freestyle and the 500 freestyle, while also competing in the 200 freestyle.
