Swimming opens NAIA National Championships with All-American showings in 800 Free Relay
COLUBMUS, Ga. (March 2, 2022) – The Milligan University swim teams opened the NAIA National Championships in style on Wednesday evening as both the men's and women's swim teams earned All-America status with top-four finishes in the 800 yard freestyle relay.
COLUBMUS, Ga. (March 2, 2022) – The Milligan University swim teams opened the NAIA National Championships in style on Wednesday evening as both the men's and women's swim teams earned All-America status with top-four finishes in the 800 yard freestyle relay.
Both Milligan swim teams posted posted school records in their All-America swims.
At the 2021-22 NAIA National Championships, all relays are timed finals. Both teams were seeded in the fastest heat and delivered with program record times.
Andre Bazzana, Ethan McCosh, Wiktor Perkowski and Stephen Gilbert obliterated the previous school record by over eight seconds as the quartet posted a 6:43.09 time to finish third.
Maggie Blazo, Tyler Cates, Liz Mahan and Gabby MacPherson swam to a fourth-place showing in 7:41.84 to secure All-America status.
Milligan resumes the NAIA National Championships tomorrow morning 9:00 a.m. with prelims for the 500 free, 200 IM and 50 free. The finals for those events and the 200 free relay and 400 medley relay are set for 5:00 p.m. tomorrow evening.
