Both swimmers notched provisional times and helped re-write pool records in last Friday's semester-opener against King.
Gilbert notched an NAIA provisional time and bested the previous pool record in the 200 meter butterfly with a 2:07.82. He took first in the 200 free with another provisional outing of 1:57.97. He backstroked his way to a 4:23.00 time and first-place finish in the 400 freestyle as well.
Williams set pool records and logged national provisional times in both breaststroke events. She swam 1:16.72 in the 100 breast and 2:47.93 in the 200 breast. She improved upon her own record in the 200 breast and bested one of the longest-standing pool records in the 100 breast. Mars Hill's Abby Harty set the previous mark of 1:17.15 in October 2014.
Milligan's nationally-ranked swim teams return to action this weekend for a high-profile dual meet showdown with the University of the Cumberlands.
