MacPherson, Gilbert continue AAC weekly award dominance
Freshmen Gabby MacPherson and Stephen Gilbert once again swept Appalachian Athletic Conference swimmer of the week after leading their respective Milligan University teams to victories over King last Friday night. The AAC announced the award Monday afternoon for the week ending Jan. 31.
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (Feb. 1, 2021) – Freshmen Gabby MacPherson and Stephen Gilbert once again swept Appalachian Athletic Conference swimmer of the week after leading their respective Milligan University teams to victories over King last Friday night. The AAC announced the award Monday afternoon for the week ending Jan. 31.
MacPherson won for the third time this season while Gilbert won for the second time. Additionally, Milligan continued its dominance over the award by winning for the fourth time on both sides, marking a sweep of the award all four times Milligan has competed this season.
MacPherson and Gilbert both won all four events they swam. MacPherson won the 400 free and 50 free in national B cut times, and was on the winning 400 medley and 200 free relays teams. Gilbert won the 100 and 200 back, also in national B cut times, along with being a part of the winning 400 medley and 200 free relays teams.
Milligan has wrapped up the regular season and will next be in action Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 11-13, at the AAC Championships in Kingsport, Tennessee. This will be followed by the NAIA Swimming & Diving National Championships, set for Wednesday-Saturday, March 3-6, in Knoxville, Tennessee.
