Halloran’s top ten finish highlights day three of championships
The Milligan College swim team saw both the men’s and women’s 200 medley relay teams, and Maggie Halloran as an individual in the 100 backstroke, move on to the finals in the third day of the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships Friday afternoon. Halloran is a member of the 200 medley relay team that moved on to the finals, making that her third relay team to move on to the finals at this year’s championships. She has also moved on to the individual finals twice.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (March 6, 2020) – The Milligan College swim team saw both the men's and women's 200 medley relay teams, and Maggie Halloran as an individual in the 100 backstroke, move on to the finals in the third day of the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships Friday afternoon. Halloran is a member of the 200 medley relay team that moved on to the finals, making that her third relay team to move on to the finals at this year's championships. She has also moved on to the individual finals twice.
Halloran was pre-seeded in the backstroke at No. 13 and secured a ninth-place finish in the prelims with a time of 58.65, beating her pre-seeded time by .45 seconds. In the finals she won the B finals with a time of 57.92 and had the sixth fastest time in the entire finals event.
The women's 200 medley team made up of Rachel Scheffer, Lindsey Grow, Jordan Clark and Halloran had a 13th place finish with a time of 1:51.83, almost two seconds faster than their preliminary time.
The men's 200 medley relay team of Jarod Blazo, Ben Hawkins, Logan Garzonio and Matthew McFalls finished in 14th with a time of 1:38.60.
The final day of competition will begin Saturday, March 7, at 10 a.m. The first event will be the 200 backstroke which will have Halloran and Kaylee Propst competing for the women and Blazo competing for the men. Saturday's schedule for the Milligan swimmers can be seen below:
