Five plays score in Women’s Soccer victory over St. Andrews

MILLIGAN, Tenn. (October 2, 2023) – The Milligan University women's soccer team downed St. Andrews 6-0 at Anglin Field on Monday afternoon.

The Buffs move to 6-4-1 on the season and 5-2 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play, surpassing the Buffs' overall and conference win totals from last season. St. Andrews falls to 0-8, 0-7 AAC.

The Buffs scored in the second minute of play with Natalie Roper dribbling along the left end line and centering a pass to Angeelena Waaland, who cashed in with her fifth goal of the season.

Waaland set up Lauren Hawkley I the 14th minute to put the Buffs ahead 2-0. Waaland attacked the right post with the dribble and sent a cross to the left post where Hawkley poked in her fourth goal of the year.

The Buffs outshot St. Andrews 6-2 in the opening 45 minutes and maintained a 2-0 halftime edge.

Kara McDaniel scored her first collegiate goal in the first two minutes of the second half. She dribbled up the right side, cut back inside the penalty area and fired a shot into the opposite corner to give the Buffs a 3-0 edge. Less than a minute later, Mariah Shull sent a lead pass forward and McDaniel ran onto the ball, used a touch to dodge the keeper and tapped in her second goal.

Shull scored in the 64th minute off a pass from McKinna Murr to put the Buffs up 5-0. Brooklyn Smith tallied the final goal of the game in the 89th minute on a rebound from Murr.

The Buffs outshot St. Andrews 14-3 for the day (8-2 SOG). Milligan had all 10 corner kicks in the game.

The Buffs travel to Reinhart on Saturday.
