Women’s Soccer edged by No. 23 Reinhardt 1-0
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (October 22, 2022) – The Milligan University women’s soccer team competed well but dropped a 1-0 decision to No. 23 Reinhardt at Anglin Field on Saturday.

The Eagles keep pace as one of the top teams in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) at 11-4, 11-1 AAC. Milligan falls to 3-8-3, 2-7-2 AAC.
Milligan and Reinhardt played a scoreless first half as the Eagles owned a 7-1 advantage in shots over the opening 45 minutes.
The Buffs had a few offensive chances in the first half that did not result in a shot. Kelsey Miller pressured a pass all the way back to Reinhardt's keeper, which forced the goalie to redirect the ball away from the frame. Miller tracked it down wide of the goal but her centering pass did not connect with a Buff.
Miller also made a run up the right sideline but again could not connect with a Buff on her attempted cross. Hannah Chatterton also made a run to Reinhardt's left endline but her ball was snagged by the Eagle keeper.
With just over five minutes left in the half, Reinhardt's top goal-scorer Carrie Consolino advanced the ball up the left sideline and fired a shot that Lauren Davies tipped just over the crossbar. Davies made three saves in the first half.
Reinhardt broke through with a header on a corner kick in the 55th minute to open up a 1-0 lead.
Davies kept the margin at one goal with a punch save in the 62nd and snagging a well-struck ball out of the air in the 63rd.
Kori Barnhill came off the bench and recorded a pair of shots on goal in the 65th and 70th minutes.
With six minutes to go, Ella Sawa drew a foul just outside the penalty area. Taylor Dawson sent the free kick at the frame but Reinhardt's goalie snagged it out of the air.
The Buffs pressed the attack over the final several minutes but were never able to break through as the Eagles escaped Anglin Field with a 1-0 victory.
Reinhardt outshot Milligan and owned a 10-1 edge in corner kicks. Davies finished with nine saves. Dawson and Barnhill combined for all four of Milligan's shots on goal.
Milligan travels to Bluefield on Wednesday.
