MILLIGAN (August 24, 2022) – The Milligan University women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw against the Thomas More Saints Wednesday evening at Anglin Field.
Freshman Kesley Miller notched her third goal of the season in the first half and senior goalkeeper Lauren Davies made a career high 12 saves to lead the way for Milligan.
After 20 minutes of scoreless action Thomas More found the game's first goal off a nice cross and finish in the 22nd minute. Miller responded with her third goal of the season in the 25th minute off a lead pass from Ashlen Burch.
Davies kept the game deadlocked at one with a pair of close-range saves in the 38th minute. She added another in-box stop in the 42nd minute.
The game went into halftime tied at one despite Thomas More owning a 13-1 edge in shots.
The Saints took all 15 shots in the second half but came up empty. Davies made seven total stops in the half and had a few other close calls. Davis made a clutch a one-on-one stop by the left post in the 85th minute. With just over four minutes remaining in regulation, Davis tipped a well-struck shot from distance over the goal. A minute later Davies made a diving save on another potential game-winner.
Milligan wraps up its nonconference slate next Saturday at Lincoln Memorial.
